Accessory Dwelling Units
Also known as Granny Units or In-Law Units, an Accessory Dwelling Unit a.k.a. ADU is typically an independent second dwelling unit on a property. These units can be attached to an existing house or detached as a separate structure and can be constructed on most lots zoned for single family residential use. With the housing shortage in the Bay Area, ADUs can provide housing for single workers, serve as a guest suite, provide additional income, or simply be an extended living area.
