Kyu Young Kim was born in Korea and immigrated to the U.S. with his parents during the 1988 Seoul Summer Olympics.
Kyu received his Bachelor of Architecture from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 2008 and returned to Korea to work for Korean Architect, Byoung-Soo Cho in Seoul. Kyu has also worked in Paris, France; Manhattan, New York; and San Francisco, California before returning to his hometown of Palo Alto.
Karl and Craig opened the ‘door to architecture’ for Kyu when he was a high school student by allowing him to stop in and observe what the architectural profession entails.
Kyu served a term on the City of Palo Alto’s Architectural Review Board from 2014-2017, serving as the Vice Chair in his final year.
